September update

Aaaand the first month has flown by!! Last night was our first BIG Friday Night Fellowship - the culmination of a lot of hard work from the student leaders during First Flight Week. (That's what the Eagles call their welcome week, anyway.) Classes for the TWU students started last Monday and UNT on Wednesday so our students have been all across campus, meeting the new and returning students and inviting them into their lives and our ministry. We spent some time introducing our leadership for the year, Matt and Amy, and coming together as a community to worship God.
(Thanks to Matt for the picture.)

I promise there are guys involved too! But I think this shot demonstrates well how much of our ministry works - girls befriend girls and guys reach out to guys, leading to most of the girls being on one side of the room and most of the guys on the other!

Transitioning from ministry at UT-Dallas to the University of North Texas (and some TWU students too!) has been a challenge for me at times. The student bodies are different in a lot of ways, but we have enough in common when it comes to fanatical devotion to Jesus. So maybe half of my attempts at jokes fail because they're just a bit too nerdy. God has been teaching me so much through these students about just how big His plan is.

Looking forward to next month, COREs (what we call our small groups) start in just over a week. Our small groups are really the heart of our ministry, where the deep, spiritual friendships are rooted. I'm so excited to see how God is going to use the students to spread His love across campus this year!

Last night also gave me a wonderful time to look back. These amazing ladies were my first small group leaders when I started attending FOCUS events right at 5 years ago!
Both Amy and Maci could tell you crazy stories of who I was when I first stepped foot in their CORE - and how radically God has changed my life. I can't wait to see what He does in the next 5 years!
